2002 Press Releases:Ewell Court Residents Association Jubilee Fair
A great day was had by one and all in Ewell today - and it wasn't a bad day
for recruiting new members to the EHA either.
The EHA stand formed part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations in Ewell Court
and the opportunity was also taken to open the EHA Potting Shed to its
members. The result was that many of the members had the chance to get their
garden produce at very competitive prices, but perhaps more importantly 29
local gardeners joined the Association as new members on the day. As you can
see Rob even helped out with the stall next door.
Thanks to everyone who attended the day.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 20/3/2002
At the Annual General Meeting the existing committee
members were re-elected with no Officer posts contested. Pamela Knowles, who has
already been helping by organising the trips and outings for the past 2 years,
was appointed and welcomed to the committee. There are still 2 important
positions vacant, that of Show Secretary and Assistant Sales Secretary and
details of these positions are shown on the ‘Help Page' of the web site.
Any volunteers would be warmly welcomed and given every encouragement.
Rob
Thomson our registrar and web master has shown great energy and enthusiasm in
introducing and developing our membership database and the newly launched
website. These qualities were very
evident in the presentation that he gave to members of the new website.
Rob used a projector to guide us round the site, introducing everyone to
its present and potential features.
Following
the refreshments there was a talk about Epsom Common (Newly designated a local
nature reserve) from Stewart Cocker, Senior Ranger at Epsom and Ewell Borough
Council, and Dr Ian Menzies. Stewart explained the history and importance of the
common, using slides showing the impact on the landscape resulting from
different uses over time. Ian
Menzies has an amazing collection of slides covering 50 years that illustrated
the rise and fall of the insect life on the common, and we were very privileged
to be able to see a selection of these. The
form and colour of some of these (sometimes very rare) bugs was hard to believe
The evening was so full that time ran out before we could question Dr Menzies. Sandra Ranson March 2002 HERALD OF SPRINGAs usual, the Association
was represented at the Herald of Spring during the weekend of 16th
& 17th February at Bourne Hall in Ewell. The Association used this event to
launch and publicise their new web site. Sandra Ranson February 2002 | ||||||||
