Our Spring Flower Show at
Blenheim High School Epsom was visited by not only one, but by two Mayors.
The Mayor of Epsom and Ewell, Cllr. Brian Angus and Mayoress Margaret Angus
were accompanied by, Claude Charpentier, the Mayor of Chantilly and his wife
Annie.
Epsom and Ewell is twinned
with Chantilly in France and so it was of particular significance to have
the Mayor and his wife as honoured guests during, what was for them, a
hectic schedule of visits. As you can see they presented the prizes to our
winning entrants and helped clear up at the end - well one bench at least.
The show attracted over
350 entries of flowers, floral art, cookery and handicraft in addition to a
children’s section that at this show made attractive celebratory pop up
cards. Over 300 daffodils were on display and were of an extremely high
standard.
Our particular
congratulations go to Valerie and Geoff Ellam who won the Spring Show
Challenge Trophy Cup for the highest number of points in the Bulbs section
of the show, and George Barrett who won the Arnall Cup for the Runner Up in
this section. George Barrett is also to be congratulated for winning the Ted
Grace Bulb Trophy for class 2 entrants.
Our thanks as always to Fred for all of the
pictures.
