Penshurst Place

Sunday, 11 June, £23 per person.

This includes entry to the house and toy museum, a guided tour of the gardens and a cream tea.

Mediaeval in origin, Penshurst Place is the home of The Viscount De L’Isle, whose family has owned in since 1552. The 60ft high Baron’s Hall is the focal point of the manor house and there is a wonderful collection of portraits, porcelain and furniture in the state rooms.

The 11 acres of formal gardens are a rare surviving example of Elizabethan design and are surrounded by parkland. In June the 100m peony border should be at its best.
The centrepiece of the walled garden is a 16th century classical Italian garden containing individual ‘rooms’, each with its own theme and design.
