Entrance to all gardens £24.75, payable with balance. As demand for this trip has been high, please let me know as soon as possible if you asked to be put on the list for this trip but are now not able to go. Day 2 Saturday: Visits to 2 gardens Morning: East Lambrook Manor Gardens, near South Petherton www.eastlambrook.com. A typical English cottage garden created by Margery Fish, with a national collection of hardy geraniums. Lunch has to be ordered in advance here. The choice is cheddar or ham ploughman's with salad at a cost of £5.95. If you wish to take your own, please note that no packed lunches are allowed in the gardens. Afternoon: Mill Cottage Plants, Wookey near Wells. A nursery specialising in ferns and hydrangeas set within a 2 acre garden. Also has a wide range of oriental poppies. Day 3 Sunday: Visits to 2 gardens Morning: Hestercombe near Taunton www.hestercombegardens.com. A famous Edwardian Lutyens/Jekyll garden with formal gardens including a pergola, orangery and beautiful stonework set in 50 acres of landscaped grounds. Lunches available. Afternoon: Cothay Manor near Wellington. A romantic garden surrounding a classic mediaeval manor house, featuring a cottage garden, bog garden and river walk. Day 4 Monday:
Return home, with a morning visit to Bolehyde Manor near Chippenham,
Day tripsWednesday 25th April Houghton Lodge near Stockbridge in Hampshire. A riverside garden surrounding a 'cottage ornee', which has been used as location for several films and was Betsey Trotwood's cottage in 'David Copperfield' on TV. Has orchid house, tropical hot-houses, hydroponicum and nature walk. Sunday 20th May Capel Manor and Myddelton House in Enfield. Capel Manor is a well-known college which has 30 acres of themed gardens including Which? magazine demonstration gardens and is next door to Myddelton House which was created by E A Bowles and has a national collection of irises. On Friday 17 August 2 gardens in East Sussex, Merriments Garden, Hurst Green, which has 4 acres of densely planted themed borders and Hailsham Grange, Hailsham, which has a series of garden rooms inspired by Sissinghurst.
