2008 Autumn Show
Late summer riot at Autumn Show
EHA show supporters are a hardy bunch, and although the Autumn
Show
was held on a chilly, damp Saturday at the end of a chilly, wet
summer, they turned out in force to make it a thoroughly enjoyable
and successful afternoon.
The newly-redecorated halls were a riot of late-summer colour. The exhibits of dahlias and chrysanthemums were much admired, as were the other garden flowers and shrubs, pot plants, fruit, vegetables, cookery and handicrafts.
The Floral Art Group exhibits were as stunning as ever, with Jill
West winning the Judge’s Choice award, and Maureen Hanlan the Best
in Show.
The Catering Committee were rushed off their feet as always but they weren’t alone. Trade at the Potting Shed stall was brisk, Ron Nesbitt’s bulbs were very popular (as usual), and Dave Pryce’s Honey Stall enjoyed the sweet taste of success.
There was so much to do and see that it was no wonder we signed up several new members.
Very many thanks to all who helped to make the show such a success. And it won’t be long until the next one – 25 October, to be precise. So dust down your Handbook and start preparing those entries now.
