2009 Spring Show

Records broken at first show of the year

Our Spring Show on 4 April attracted 10 per cent more entries than last year. As usual, the display of perfect daffodils and narcissi dominated, giving a welcome splash of colour after the dark days of winter, and complemented by the scent from the vases of spring flowering shrubs. The Nominated Class, an Amaryllis, was grown from a bulb distributed by the EHA at last Autumn’s show. Entries for this class were impressive, but the best was Sandra Parratt’s. She won the Secretary’s Cup. Other winners were Ron Hedge, who won the Spring Show Challenge Cup and the National Daffodil Society Medal, and Chris Beere, who won the Arnall Cup. Our hard-working Equipment Officer cum General Organiser, Gordon Norris, won the Best Bloom. We are again grateful to the Mayor, Cllr Alan Winkworth, for attending the Show and presenting the prizes.
