2010 Late Autumn Show
FROSTS DON’T FAZE OUR MEMBERS!
Despite two early frosts a week before the Late Autumn Show, our members still produced great displays of flowers, fruit and vegetables on the day.
Garden produce was augmented by the handicraft and photography entries; both these sections have become more and more popular in the last few years.
Again there was a large number of entries for the domestic
classes, and a lot of keen cooks entered their lemon cakes for the
Nominated Class.
The theme for the Floral Art displays was “A Meal to Remember”, and
the club members devised clever arrangements including flowers,
fruit and vegetables to illustrate a Ladies’ Lunch, Coffee Morning,
and Twilight Dinner, for which Pam Eade won the NAFAS Diploma for
Best in Show.
Clearly, the reputation of the shows is still growing, as we had
what seemed to be record numbers of visitors – particularly to the
refreshments! As always, thankyou to all our Committee members
and volunteers who work hard to make the shows possible, and so
enjoyable.
