Help & Opportunities.

Ewell Horticultural Association is a voluntary organisation run for the benefit of its members.

The activities of the Association are organised by a committee that meet five times a year.  

It would be easy to assume that the Association would only accept offers of help from people that are keen gardeners and horticulturalists. Anyone that knows me will know that my knowledge of anything to do with plants and gardening is very limited, but I have been able to use my IT knowledge to build the membership database and subsequently this web site. If you feel that you have skills that you could offer the Association, we would be pleased to hear from you.  

We have the following vacancies on the committee:

Catering Officer

The Association already has a dedicated team of supporters who run the refreshment area at all of our shows and special events. However, this team is 'leaderless' and we are seeking someone who can continue steering this team with the excellent work that they currently do.  

Vice Chairman

To support our chairman in his leadership of the Association, in addition to deputising in his absence.

Sales Secretary (Potting Shed)

Due to pressure of work, our present sales secretary has asked to stand down from running our Potting Shed. The Potting Shed is a core part of the association generating the necessary income to run or subsidise many of our other activities. The duties include selecting product ranges, product ordering, negotiating the best prices for the association, stock control, pricing and marketing of the Potting Shed to our members.

Help is needed to support our Sales Secretary in the running of the ‘Potting Shed’.  Stock control, ordering, pricing, and organising receipt of deliveries are some of the duties.

Potting Shed Volunteers

The Potting Shed is a vital resource for the Association. In addition to stocking and selling a wide range of gardening fertilisers and products, it is a vibrant meeting place where members can meet and chat. It is also a storage area for the equipment required to stage our shows.

The Potting Shed is open on approximately every other Sunday morning throughout the year and a handful of Wednesday evenings during the Spring and Summer months. It is staffed entirely by volunteers who work on a rota basis. We are seeking to increase our pool of volunteers so that we spread the work load. If you feel you could spare one Sunday morning a month, or help us on Wednesday evenings we would be pleased to hear from you.
